When Should I See an Orthodontist?
While major issues with the alignment of your teeth may have you come into our office for an evaluation, we also know that it isn’t always as obvious whether your smile could benefit from braces. It’s highly advised that kids come in for an orthodontic consultation at the age of 7, which can help us identify and correct issues early on.
Of course, if you didn’t get braces as a kid this doesn’t mean you’re out of luck. Dr. El-Hayek also works with older teens and adults to help them get the smiles they want through orthodontic treatment. Here are some signs that you may want to bring you or your child in for a consultation,

Some children want to correct serious misalignment issues while we also have adults who are simply looking to close the gap in their front teeth. Traditional Braces
These are still one of the most cost-effective and most efficient ways to correct dental misalignments, particularly in more serious and complex cases
Clear Braces
These braces function and look just like traditional braces but instead of metal brackets we bond ceramic brackets to the front of you or your child’s teeth, so they are less visible when smiling
Invisalign
Invisalign clear aligners are an effective alternative to traditional braces, because they use a system of clear, removable trays used to straighten teeth. Each aligner is custom-made to fit over your teeth and is designed to gradually move teeth into their proper position. Invisalign aligners provide a nearly invisible way to straighten your smile and it’s a great option for older teens and adults looking to correct more minor to moderate alignment issues.
Just like braces, clear aligners use gradual force to control tooth movement, but without any metal wires or brackets. The aligners are made with a strong plastic material that has been fabricated to fit your mouth. As treatment progresses you switch aligners. Each set of aligner trays is a little different, so your teeth move a little more with every change. Aligners are worn for at least 20 hours each day, and you'll receive a new aligner every two weeks. The length of your treatment depends on the severity of your case, and treatment can take anywhere from six months to two years.
